Coin \u2013 fast becoming an inland hot spot<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Coin is a town and municipality in the Province of M\u00e1laga which is 33km from the city. This hidden gem has an official population of 22,000 inhabitants, with foreigners making up a substantial proportion of this figure.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many people are attracted to Co\u00edn because it\u2019s only 25 minutes from the beaches of M\u00e1laga and Marbella, including the 50 km stretch of coastline in between which includes the popular resorts of Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Benalm\u00e1dena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s also saturated in history too, dating back as far as 929 AD when it was ruled by the Moors and Romans, with many buildings dating back to this era still on show in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The town itself has grown in popularity and has become a destination for foreign residents wanting to live in a more authentic Andalusian environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Services:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Coin offers good shopping including a large Indoor shopping centre Centro Commercial La Trocha<\/a> which has many shops, restaurants and service providers including a one-stop shop. <\/a>It is owned and run by a very friendly English family that moved here over 15 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sundays, they host a Rastro market in the car parking area and there is also an organic fruit and vegetable market located next door with heaps of amazing in-season local produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When visiting Sumermarkets you are spoilt for choice. With Lidl, Dia, Aldi, Mercadona and numerous wholesale warehouses plus local fruit and Vegetable markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eating Out:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is excellent dining in all three areas of the town. Co\u00edn has built up a reputation for serving some of the best tapas dishes on the Costa del Sol with El Rincon de la plaza<\/a> in the old town being one of my favourites. For amazing steaks, we have Casa Paco<\/a> in the El Rodeo strip. Along with the best Indian restaurant Mumtaz Mahal<\/a>. Another favourite is Restaurant Bohemia<\/a> set around a beautiful Andaluz courtyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of La Trocha which incidentally has a Burgerking<\/a> there is also a new McDonalds for fast food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leisure:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Leisure facilities are great with indoor sports facilities at El Rodeo and an athletics ground at El Nacimiento. There is a football ground and indoor plus outdoor municipal swimming pools. Plus a skate park for the kids at El Rodeo. Always check local town hall facilities for kids, adults and Spanish lessons as they are often of great value and you get to integrate with the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nearest golf course is Lauro Golf, a 27-hole course designed by Falco Nardi. It\u2019s one of the most reasonably priced golf courses and offers its players some of the most sumptuous scenery possible, you will be hard-pressed to keep your head down whilst taking your swing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Coin\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Co\u00edn has many interesting monuments including the churches of St. Andrew, St. John and La Vera Cruz, along with La Fuensanta, also known as Llano de la Virgen, where there have been prehistoric archaeological findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Areas of interest and of an immense beauty in the neighbouring areas are the forests of Alpujata, La Fuente, El Charco del Infierno and La Albuquera, Barranco Blanco. All which are well worth a visit. Check out local places of interest on the Turismo Coin<\/a> Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weather:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Co\u00edn enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer heat manageable; temperatures average 32 \u00baC during the summer. The area averages 320 days of sunshine per year. In February which is the coldest month temperatures can drop to 7 degrees at night on rare occasions. In lowland areas, I have even known a frost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Property for sale:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In terms of the property on offer, townhouses and ground-floor apartments can be purchased in the old town. For as low as \u00a360,000, although realistically your budget will need to be around \u00a380,000 \u2013 \u00a3150,000 to purchase a property of higher quality with views.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Detached finca\u2019s are generally priced around the \u00a3250,000 mark, whereas a villa with a swimming pool will cost you around \u00a3300,000, going upwards towards the \u00a3400,000 mark.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Urbanisation Sierra Gorda, Las Delicias and Los Nebrales have great Urban Villas.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
