Restaurants and Bars

The town itself is has a great selection of bars, restaurants and cafes with lots of delicious local staples such as ‘migas’ breadcrumb based dishes, pork, rice and seafood dishes and porra (a thick stew or soup made of vegetables) taking full advantage of some of the great local grown veg such as asparagus when in season.

If you’re looking for a little more variety then nearby Antequera, Malaga and Torremolinos can provide a more diverse range of eateries from modern tapas and international cuisine to fast food, pubs, nightclubs, and cocktail bars.

Shopping

 

Fuente De Piedra itself is home to a selection of great local shops including supermarkets, clothing stores, tobacconists, banks, pharmacy’s, bakeries and many more.

If you’re after some serious retail therapy then nearby Coin is home to the modern ‘CC La Trocha’ which offers everything from shops and restaurants to a cinema, a gym with spa, rooftop paddle courts and even a swimming pool!

Also within an easy drive is the Fuengirola flea market that happens twice a week, Malaga is home to a vast array of stores and shopping centres and in Torremolinos the Calle San Miguel is a must visit shopping experience.

 

Beaches

Although there is a beautiful lagoon nearby and several other bodies of water, Fuente De Piedra is inland and so the nearest beaches are Torremolinos and Malaga which have lots to offer visitors of all ages and interests, whether it’s serious sunbathing, water sports, seaside dining or shopping.

Attractions

 

Obviously in Fuente De Piedra the main attraction is the breath taking lagoon and nature reserve that is home to thousands of flamingos as well as other animals and provides a great place to walk, explore or even have a picnic. Next to the reserve is the ‘El Refugio del Burrito’ a very popular donkey sanctuary for animal lovers and children to get up close with some cute donkeys.

There are also some terrific waterparks nearby with Aqualand Torremolinos and Costa Water Park in Fuengirola both within an hour’s drive away and well worth the trip for a day full of fun.
